Mother of one of the abducted Chibok school girls, Dorcas Yakubu has lamented the neglect faced by the Chibok community from the Borno state government. Esther Yakubu in an interview in Abuja said is not showing any sign of empathy towards the affected parents and plight of people from the North East region.

She however, noted that while the Nigerian government cares less about the rescue of the over 200 abducted girls, the worst challenge faced by the Chibok people is the neglect by the Borno state governor Kashim Shettima.

Esther accused Shettima of favouritism among northern Borno indigenes.

She said: “Since they were kidnapped, our girls matter could just be silenced like that, but only for the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group and the people that are even working hard to see that our girls are back.”

She also decried the nonchalance by some Nigerians towards the plea for the speedy rescue of the school girls. “The federal government is not serious about it, they said it is a frame up. If they people at the top framed it for their selfish interest but we parents do not have anything to do with it,” Esther said. “And the federal government is saying nothing about it, they have been taking everything to the northern (northern part of Borno state).
